This Buzz Lightyear cake was done for my son’s 6th birthday. We seem to finally be breaking out of the car and train rut we’ve been in for so many years. It’s such a nice change! I always let my kids pick their birthday theme and make them a special cake to match, but I almost never post them. The reason is that I’m usually so busy with all of the other party preparations that I don’t have the time to obsess over getting all the details perfect like I would with other cakes. In the end, the kids love them and don’t notice all the flaws, but they just never seem worthy of posting for everyone to see. This cake has it’s own little imperfections, but I thought it turned out well enough to share with you. Buzz is made entirely out of gumpaste with some of the finer details drawn on with a food safe marker. The moon is Rice Krispy Treats covered in fondant. The sides of the cake that are not shown have planets, constellations and a U.F.O just for fun. Can’t wait to see what he picks next time!
